In VitroFertilization (IVF)

Eggs are fertilized in the laboratory and embryos cultured before transfer or vitrification (freezing).

Estimated duration

The active ovarian stimulation phase usually lasts approximately 10 to 14 days, followed by follicular aspiration and embryo culture in the laboratory.

What is In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)?

In Vitro Fertilization is an assisted reproduction treatment in which eggs are retrieved and fertilized in the laboratory; the resulting embryos are cultured for several days before being transferred to the uterus or vitrified for a later cycle.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

Who is it indicated for?

May be considered in cases of tubal factor, male factor, endometriosis, low ovarian reserve, unexplained infertility, or when previous treatments have not resulted in pregnancy.

The final indication always depends on your diagnosis. Your treating physician will review your test results before proposing this treatment.

The process, step by step

  1. 1Initial evaluation and testing for both partners
  2. 2Ovarian stimulation with ultrasound monitoring
  3. 3Follicular aspiration and semen sample collection
  4. 4Laboratory fertilization and embryo culture
  5. 5Embryo transfer or vitrification (freezing)
  6. 6Pregnancy test approximately one to two weeks after transfer, per your physician's protocol

The active ovarian stimulation phase usually lasts approximately 10 to 14 days, followed by follicular aspiration and embryo culture in the laboratory. When preimplantation genetic testing, vitrification, or a deferred transfer are performed, treatment extends into a subsequent cycle. Your physician will outline your specific timeline at your evaluation.

Technology and technique at CEMPI

At CEMPI the embryology laboratory uses time-lapse embryo monitoring and sperm microinjection techniques (ICSI and PICSI) when indicated, along with preimplantation genetic testing options.

Cost and financial planning

We do not publish generic prices because cost depends on the indicated treatment, the laboratory work it requires, and the number of cycles anticipated. After your evaluation, the PLANEA department prepares a proposal naming the included services and payment alternatives.
