Hysteroscopy

Direct visualization of the uterine cavity for diagnostic or surgical purposes.

What is it?

Hysteroscopy allows the inside of the uterus to be examined with a small-caliber scope and, in the same procedure, to treat findings such as polyps, submucous fibroids, adhesions, or septa.

Who is it for?

May be indicated for abnormal uterine bleeding, implantation failure, suspected intrauterine pathology, or as a study prior to assisted reproduction treatment.

Approximate duration

Outpatient procedure; recovery and return to usual activity are generally quick.
